YTL Corporation undertakes
IT and e-commerce initiatives through 74%-owned YTL
e-Solutions Berhad, which is a technology incubator listed
on the Mesdaq Market of the Bursa Malaysia (Stock Code: 0009).
YTL e-Solutions represents one of the Group's relatively newer
organically grown business activities.
As of 31 December 2008, YTL e-Solutions has a market capitalisation
of about RM385
million
(US 104
million
). It currently has 12 subsidiaries, including Extiva
Communications Sdn Bhd, a leading VOIP company serving
the enterprise market, Infoscreen
Networks PLC, a digital narrowcasting business listed
on the AIM Market of the London Stock Exchange and Airzed
Broadband Sdn Bhd, a broadband service provider.
Through 60%-owned Y-Max Networks Sdn Bhd (formerly known as
Bizsurf (M) Sdn Bhd), it holds a Worldwide Interoperability
for Microwave Access (WiMAX) licence for a 2.3 GHz wireless
broadband access spectrum, which was awarded by the Malaysian
Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to roll out
a nationwide WiMAX network in Peninsular Malaysia.
