YTL reveals Sentul urban renewal project

Kuala Lumpur, 16 April 2003 YTL Land & Development Berhad unveiled the new masterplan for Sentul on April 16. At the briefing to the media at JW Marriott Hotel, YTL group managing director Tan Sri Francis Yeoh said YTL has had a record of turning around places, citing YTL’s successes with Bercham in Ipoh, Pantai Hillpark, and Pangkor Laut Resort. Explaining that Sentul is actually the name of a tree, Sandoricum koetjape, Tan Sri Francis said the perception of the area would be transformed with the Sentul Masterplan. He maintained that YTL is committed to providing world-class services at third world prices, thus giving an opportunity for the public to own homes with access to the first and largest private, gated park in Malaysia. The project comprises a mixed development of residential, commercial offices and retail outlets that is targeted to be completed in phases within the next 7 to 8 years. Due to the fact that the site is divided by the existing Sentul KTM Komuter station and tracks, the concept of the plan characterizes the two halves differently, thereby forming the unique personalities of Sentul West and Sentul East.
